Challenge: The Eyes Have It! (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.0 USM
Location: England
Date: Feb 5, 2008
Date Uploaded: Feb 5, 2008

This is the guy upstairs where I live, he has had a bit of a life, I love listening to his tales and stories. I know the challenge says EYES but he has got 2 it's just 1 is in the dark, a bit like his life really, coming into the light. How will it score? tough one that...

est score - 6.3
dream score - 7+

I can imagine it also bombing out to a 5.5 too but I can take it... LOL

Shot with my new back-up camera the 400D, what a great little cam it is too. This was bought with payment money from the job I will do in Hawaii in Feb. I wanted to get another zoom lens for the 5D but felt I have great lenses already so the 1.6X crop has now sent my 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM to a 320mm f2.8, that makes more sense to me to spend £350 on a body rather than £2000 on a 300mm f2.8.

This was by far one of my favorites in this challenege, congrats on your top 15 finish (though I personally thought this deserved a ribbon)!

Awesome, MAK! I bet he does indeed have some interesting tales. I can't even imagine how much that must have hurt to get those tatoos on his head. Ouch! But what character it adds to that face! :) Congratulations on 12th place.

Great shot. Interesting face, focus squarely on the eye. Probably my challenge favorite. Good luck,

Great shot, and very evocative title.

The title really sets the scene here and draws the viewer further into the shot to explore something of his appearence and consider his character from the presented visual evidence - The Tattoes, the beads, the darkness deliberately shading most of him.

But by allowing him to lean forward 'out of the night' as it were and make contact with you, you have altered the dynamics.

The suggestion that what is around him, in real life - and in the picture, is dark indeed, literally and metaphorically, yet in the midst of this there is the visual contact - the reaching out, the few words suggesting that there is more to this guy than just a scary image, within him there is still a heart and soul despite all, there is still a person there that deserves a moment of your time . .

Good shot - hope it does well.

I'm not sure about the title of this image...maybe it's a personal thing. The image however is superb, and I vote an 8. Cheers, Sandra.

I like this one, focus is on the eye, but the tatoo catches MY eye more, nice emotion.
