My mind very quickly organized this into two frames, left and right, with a brief space between. Perhaps the left side is preparing to battle the right? I like the managed chaos here . . .

For sure the downsizing didn't do this any favours, but I find the contrast spot on, and the full patterning of branches against the cloud dappled sky extremely rich.

As an abstract this is very cool and would be a great texture overlay.

Having the clouds show through in the background is very nice...this will make a good overlay. I think that the photo would be better if it had another element to add a focal point for the viewer.

I agree, I think this would make a great overlay. As it is, it's too busy and the eye wanders all over the place looking for something to focus on. i would love to see you use this on another picture you do in this challenge - that would be fun.

Can't go wrong with a tree. Nice b/w.

I can see your interest in the play of light and textures. However, there's not enough here to hold my interest. Might work better for me in a larger scale.

I think you've really brought out the texture in the tree and would certainly work well in the texture challenge. I think for a standard B&W it would have worked a bit better without the sharpening halos, but then again that just makes the texture better!

The natural filigree of a tree, the textures of plants around us, all yield rich images - depending on what they are exhibited with. To know where to exhibit is as important a skill as to know how to photograph a subject. You remind me of these things with your elegant photo.

the lace work of this big old brute of a tree is pretty neat as a 2D image - i think as an image itself it lacks a center or point of interest, but it sure would make a fantastic texture to another photo...

Maybe a portrait crop losing about a third of the right side and as Erik says thats where the better sky is - have fun overlaying it as well.

Nice pattern of the branches and the clouds. Wonder if cropping a bit off the right would help, not only with respect to composition but it might also emphasize the clouds a bit more.

I suspect this will make a fun overlay - you may even want to try it inverted on some things. As a standalone, it's kind of plain and seems to me a touch oversharpened, but it's very hard not to get that with trees with lots of limbs and twigs like this.

I LOVE a naked tree - this one is beautiful and you've presented it so wonderfully.

That looks like one huge tree. I like how we can get a small glimpse of the white clouds through the tangle of limbs.
