Here is another with the Cowboy Hat. I desaturated all but my eyes. Really cropped down. A little neat image (40%) to smooth out some skin.

The hat covering your face really adds a sense of mystery, I feel.

You did a good desat but the hat makes me want to see more! I am going backwards in your images and from your comment, I guess I will see another shot with the hat. Hope to see your full face in there.

I won't critique as you have gotten enough of that, but i like the shot and think it shows a good bit of promise. keep it up.

pretty pretty, although I must say your eyes give the image an eriee feeling, its still pretty. But yeah, your talking to the guy who has models play around with bottles of fake blood for a shoot... anyway, nice job on controlling the light.

Neat Image might have hurt the detail in your eyes. I'd prefer to have seen them very sharp. But nicely put together, and works well in b/w.

Boy... everyone else is saying the like it and I hate to be one to disagree. I do like the idea. I'd like to see what the original looked like in color because I think this image is suffering from a bad B&W conversion. And for me, the selective desat doesn't work because your eyes are too small within the image to really see the color. The part I don't like most is your upper cheek and forehead. They don't look all that bright, and yet they give every indication of being "blown out". Perhaps because of Neat Image? (blown out highlights are notorious for their lack of detail and NI removes detail, so that may be why they appear to be blown)

I'd be happy to take a shot at the B&W conversion (not that I'm the greatest, I generally don't do a lot of B&Ws). Email me if you're interested.

You nailed your focus again :) I like your placement in the photo too... did you hit it with another USM after you NI?? You can set your history brush back to the NI level, and redo the skin while leaving the eyes and some of the hair :) I really like selective desat and this was a lovely photo to do it on. Good Job!

awesome shot but the hair on your eyelashes takes away from your lovely eyes...

The desat is very good. Focus is spot on.
