Thanks for the many comments.
This image isn't a great fit for 'old ways'. Building a snowman with my toddler kinda reminded me of my childhood, but it was still marginally appropriate at best.
I liked the image. And it was what I was after when I set up the shot. The flash and framing (little or no cropping) created a bold image. So I decided to enter it even though it wasn't a great fit for the challenge.
Here in the Pacific Northwest it is not uncommon to have snowfall and a quick thaw. The lack of snow on my front yard was also a result of having used up much of it from the building of the snowman.

| How is a snowman an old way...I really don't understand that, I mean sure people have been doing that a long time and the grass is green, but old? not really? |

Not sure if I care for the composition all the way to the side like that, but the image itself is sure fun, with very punchy colors. (I think "punchy" is my new favorite commenting term!)
Where did all that snow come from? I don't see any on the ground. |
