This is some ornamental grass that is planted along the Bike Path. It catches the afternoon light, looks gorgeous against a sunset, and forms a nice backdrop in summer for the flowers planted amongst the clumps of grass. From this angle you would never know that hundreds of cars are passing by every hour just to the right of this. I wonder how many people never see this as beautiful.
The little lights in the sky are jet trails, BTW. Not shooting stars, though feel free to imagine they are.
I have a very similar shot of sugar cane tassels, so don't feel odd about seeing the beauty in this scene. You have done a good job of getting the effect that you were looking for. You're right about the traffic. I would have never guessed.
The silhouette against that lovely coloured sky is superb. I'm not particularly fond of the white blob on the left (the star trail?), as I feel that it intrudes on an otherwise smooth sky.
I love these grasses, Mary & always notice them- they are so graceful and flowing. In the late Fall & Winter they still look lovely- your image is wonderful :)
