Last season's pet Ox Beetles laid many eggs before they passed on to the great lawn in the sky.

I ignored their terrarium for many months, assuming that it was not an appropriate nursery for these hard to raise grubs. Last week I got a great surprise when I was preparing to use the compost for potting soil.

Three of the eggs did hatch and the babies are thriving. They are named "George Foreman" because I can't tell them apart. I gave them more food and can't wait to see them emerge as adults.

Photos of adults (not mine).

Cool! Good idea to hold it in your hand to show scale.

Those are seriously funky bugs as adults. Kind of remind me of Rhinoceros Beetles. LOVE the names :-)))

Fabulous. My daughter would love a beetle as big as those adults.
