Focus is a little soft but its the best I came up with in the few hours between rain storms I had to shoot. Working with my 300mm manual focus legacy lens at f/6.7-f/8 (overcast) with a monopod, and unfortunately a lot of the images came back just slightly out of focus. This one is not too bad, but we'll see how badly the voters hammer me for it.

Very beautiful. The contrast between the light and dark is fantastic.

Very very dark. Just a tad lighter definietly would have made this photo gorgious. Very nice capture though. Great framing with the subject.

Nice image and composition. A little too dark for me, but your call of course. The body of the egret is in an unusual position.

Nice composition. I like the glow of the egret with very dark background, although I find myself searchng the negative space for detail. Maybe too dark.

Just a tad too dark to really work for me. The idea was very good. And it's a little soft.

The inclusion of the background, ever so slight, gives this beautiful depth.

A dramatic photo, maybe a little too dark for some. Good composition.

Just a touch of halo around his body. I had this problem with my entry as well... Try a mask around the edges after USM to soften this effect.

Quite regal. I like the composition to show off the bird's elegant curves.

Very nice. Has a painting like feel to it. Woudlnt mind seeing some of the midtones of the grass a bit brighter, but a pleasing shot overall.

I like the black and white of this shot very much, a little more white in your egret though?. 9
