LOL - bring on the DNMC's!!!! I love this image!!
I'm not a real huge bird fan and couldn't see myself sitting for hours on end in the cold waiting for one to come into view. Soooo, I did the next best thing and created my very own little bird. We took numerous regular posed shots and they were all really cute..... but this kooky one made me laugh - I had to use it. Thanks to Tina (model) and Whitney (face paint)for a fun filled photo shoot. :P

So fly away my little bird, fly away. Spread your wings and fly.

Wooohoooo, a new personal low!! I love this game. Score schmore - this picture makes me smile! LOL

lol Oh, I love it!!! The lovely little blue bird painting, and with that rather bird-like expression from the model, and the hands resembling bird feet... It's perfect!!! :D
Sorry I didn't get this far in voting - it would have gotten a 10 from me! Very cool, and thanks for making me laugh :D

Girl, just want to express my support for you excellent work with this image. Out "of the box" usually don't work well with small brains. That's to much work for them to figure what's going on and the creativity is a offense to their minds. Congrats for the very original interpretation, the excellent work with the setup and for the wonderful shot showing high technical skills.

Love the photo, and your interpretation of the challenge. This makes me smile. The composition is marvelous. Congratulation on a really creative entry, and for your OOBIE nomination.

Sorry - I just don't feel this meets the challenge by description.

Good photo: composition, color, focus, saturation and so on. Attractive model. I might have moved the model a bit further right in the frame, but it's a personal preference. I can construct a shoehorn tie in to the challenge theme, but I fear the DNMC police will penalize it.

An out of the box entry to be sure. It's a great portrait with good colours. Good luck!

A clever idea but it doesn't fit the challenge enough for me...unique and original though!!

Good diagonal & well balanced tone photograph. It takes the bird theme into another level.

A shoehorn to be sure, but heck, I almost entered a shot of a MIG-15, so I'll go easy on the DNMC.

I really like this. She's got a cute look on her face. I suppose the pursed lips are meant to look like a beak? Love the face paint as well. Also a fave for this. I want to be able to easily find this one again.

Did you enter the wrong chaLlenge. or are you trying a shoehorn entry?

I like the muted skin tones (post processing?) to give punch to the painted mask and the cropping to give the impression of the subject pushing out of the frame to freedom.

I fear for your score in a closely specified challenge where it could easily be regarded as DNMC, but it remains an accomplished photo regardless of your final score and kudos to you for being brave enough to submit it.

Excellent interpretation! Very birdlike in the facial expression, even without the paint, though that adds quite nicely. Very well done shot as well.
