 I drove to the top of a mountain this morning to take photos of a beautiful 4 Diamond Lodge when I found this interesting sign. I couldn't help but wonder why they would put the rink so it so close to the edge of the hill?

btw, my car thermometer said -10 F. No wind, but it felt as if one was standing inside a freezer!

Sounds chilly to me. I have never had foot prints ruin the ice on the pond I cleared for skating as a kid in Minnesota, seems a bit wacky to me. A footprint is not going to make much of an impression at -10 F. Your foot could stick to the ice if wet and the bottom of your foot stuck to the ice could cause a problem but I don't have the sense many people would take their boots off to try this anyhow.

Maybe they put it there so someone lurking just below can get spectacular shots of out-of-control skaters as they sail through the air over the side?

Certainly makes for a spectacular background, even if the skaters stay where they belong.

We don't have that problem in this part of the country LOL. I like sign photos too, and this is a cool one partly because of the beautiful view in the background.
