Taken on an afternoon in November. I called the ski company and asked permission to hike up to this old warming hut. I'm not sure if that is necessary since I believe the ski area is actually on public land. An odd legal question. Anyway, I got the permission and that's all that matters.

This is an HDR composition of 6 exposures one stop apart. I went with B&W because the grass is a very bland November yellow and I didn't like it. The sky, on the other hand, was a pretty nice polarized blue and there is actually some red on the mountain from the sunset. Actually, as I type this I'm going back to do a sepia version. This picture may look good with that treatment. :) OK, as you can see I went with Sepia.

Anyway, other than the HDR, there isn't too much fancy done. I did some cloning of poles and such. I'll be happy with a Top 25, but I think on a duotone, I'm not likely to get there.

Yeah it seems as if subtle won't cut it in a challenge like this. This is great though!

It's cool Doc! Thought it might be the Northwest but didn't really figure it for yours.

Beautiful colors - the mountain makes this picture IMHO - good job.

Nice composition. The stone foundation and chimney look quite interesting.

Understated but well done. Looks like a nice place to call home. 8

Other than the mountain being too smack dab in the center of the frame, this is good. Suggest cropping it differently.

This works for me...Love the conversion and richness of both the foreground and mountain in the background. Good Luck. 8.

Looks like a really cool location. The cabin blends into the forest background a bit, but overall it's a well done sepia with good contrast.

Really great subject to shoot and well handled. I would have considered cloning out the light post in the background. The sepia works well here. A little underexposed however going any brighter would overexpose the snow. Not sure how to handle this situation in post but it would be nice to add a bit more light to everything but the snow. (A levels adjustment layer maybe and erase out the mountain?)
