Greetings from the Critique Club.

Wow, can I just say - I love this!!! Great simple framing and composition, and the slight imbalance in composition makes it seem pretty much as if the boat is rocking :)

Strange patronising comment about how you should learn what a frame is? Ignore it. Obviously this is a frame, and obviously it meets the challenge. And a very nice frame too.
As for the comments along the lines of - wouldn't it be nice if it was a full-on pirate longboat having a marine fight with a large sea monster poking its head out just as you took the shot... Well, they stand :) That would be awesome. But what can you do.

One thing I don't like about the photo is that it strikes me as a bit too gray, I think it would look much nicer if it was lighter. Something that could easily be altered in pp, by lightening it using levels or brightness/contrast adjustments. Maybe a little bit more saturation would be nice as well (though not necessary).

So yeah, I'd say overall the picture is very good (as you can tell from the score), but maybe tweaking with it a bit more in post-processing would have made it even better.

The title... It's a good idea not to hit the voters on the head with the challenge theme in the title, it should be obvious from the picture. I do like both the titles though :)

Anyway, hope this helps. And good luck with future challenges!

How convenient is this?! :-D Very nice frame for the challenge. While the boat is "ok" this would really pop if there had been a sailboat or something a bit larger. I understand that you most likely had zero control over what showed up out there. :-) The photo as is, is pleasant to look at, and is fine on merits of technicalities (exposure, focus, etc...). Good luck in the challenge.

this is great, I wish the frame was lighter colored. Really like the minimalist approach though

Simplicity indeed! Love the cleanness of the shot and the alternative title - huge sea, small boat.

I really like this. The flavor is very smooth. I wish the boat was just a little bigger. Nice image, though.

I understand what you did, but it does not meet the classical definition of framing. I assume you are here to learn and improve your photography. Your creative stretch of the definition of framing will not be able to compete with your competition. Hopefully you will learn what framing is and add to your photographic knowledge.

This one seems to be from greece, right? Love the framing. I feel a little work on levels might have made this even stronger composition. Still a great capture.9.

Love the image - would enjoy seeing a whiter wall but the composition is strong in my opinion. Thanks!

The frame is more interesting than the subject.

Nice picture but the title kills it for me. I think we can all see that the boat is framed.
