the well paved highways and huge expanses of Botswana lend themselves very well to zoomy highway shots.

I saw my first snake last night on my drive. I stepped over a twig, and then realised what it was. I decided saying ‘Fuck!’ very loudly over and over was a good course of action. I then got the shovel and maimed it, as it was right beside a wall, so I couldn’t get a clean shot. (Also, I hate killing things, even cockroaches) M held the light. She said later she was amazed at how calm she was. Yeah, right. She was 10 feet away, waving the torch in my general direction. We looked it up, but still don’t know what it was. I think it wasn’t poisonous, so feel guilty. But, can’t be too careful, right?

The sky is so big.

There's kind of a breathlessness to this shot, rather in keeping with the snake discovery that goes with it!

There are certain occasions when saying "Fuck!" loudly over and over really does seem to be an excellent course of action. Though I'm not deathly afraid of snakes (I kinda like 'em) so I'd probably have only said it once 'til I figured out if it was a friend or a foe. Your big sky here is somewhat reminiscent of the American west, though the ground cover is not - it seems strikingly different somehow.
