Next door to the Elementary School is the old Academy that is no longer used. The building, and all the land, was given to the town by the previous owner with the condition that the building never be torn down. The building was in use until the early 90's (my husband went to school here as a kid) and it has stood unused (and somewhat haphazardly upkept) as a historical landmark and storage building ever since. It is within kissing distance to the newly built school off to the left of the front walkway. The kids call this the "haunted school" and I'm still making doe eyes at the principal to let me in and use its hallways.

Thanks to Ally for being the bravest eight year old ever. Even going up and peeking in the door a few times and shining a flashlight in the dusk gloom into the windows!

Trying to shoot in JPG to break my dependency (and lazy attitude!) with RAW.

I love the idea of the child with a teddy but I think getting closer in, maybe shooting landscape rather than portrait, would have brought the girl more into the shot whilst still conveying the abandoned context for more impact.
