Challenge: March Free Study (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Riverside, California
Date: Mar 3, 2004
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Landscape, Nature
Date Uploaded: Mar 4, 2004

Taken about a mile from my home on a late afternoon in early March on a rare clear day that the Jurupa Mountains were visible through the haze. Used a circular polarizer to darken the sky a bit. Adjusted white balance and levels, cropped, and sharpened slightly. No spot editing was done.

Hey Rick, this is really good stuff! I love your point of view and depth of field with everything so clear and crisp. Lovely shot! Get a print for M & D!

INCREDIBLE!!! Where is this - please tell me. I long to backpack and photograph through mountains like this. Really nice shot and you either did a good job subtracting some of the haze, or you got lucky that it was a decent day. I typically get lots of haze in a shot like this and don't get the details on the range like I want. Good luck! 10

Nice composition. Would have liked to see just a little more detail in the foreground.

would this be the st.Elias range? Great depiction of the two seasons. Would a tighter crop on the right to cut off the two faint trees make more impact? I find my eyes being drawn to them.

Great color and clarity - the distant chill against the nearby warmth. Nice shot. - 8

Excellent focus throughout and fine contrast between the greens in foreground and the crisp mountain background. Beautifully composed. Good luck.

"Nice", but needs a bit more focus to be something a bit more special. I don't think the rocks are strong enough here - perhaps if there was a well lit solitary one in the foreground it might have worked better.

Incredible beauty but I think the foreground takes away from the rest of the shot. Less foreground would make this a superb shot.
