Attempted to recapture the genius of the Old Dutch Master painters here.

Very simple lighting using a hand-held LED torch and a long exposure (hence the bluish effect on the glass and the silver based bowl). Would have used more sophisticated lights and flash guns if only I had any.

4secs @ f8.0 and 100ISO setting

Developed from RAW with only light cropping and a smidgen of sharpening in PS once reduced to 640px.

A nice study in still life overall. The lighting could be softened and warmed a little (a polarizer can help control the reflections some).

Burnt out areas of the lemon, could have done with softer lighting to overcome that. Painting with light techniques would have given an added dimension to this and increased the difficulty factor to this otherwise relatively straight-forward still life.

Better lighting would have helped

Harsh light creating some harsh shadows..

No, sorry, old Dutch masters dont't use harsh lighting. ;)

For me the lighting is too harsh - sorry.

I like the composition. Would like to see more light on the grapes. Overall the photo seems very dark. Also, the chrome base of the bowl doesn't seem to match the rest.

Needs more light, the overall image seems dim.
