Close to my place there is a music hall called Bridgewater Hall. Maybe because of this you can find this motives over one of the canal bridges.

BTW my building is the one you can see on the left. I tried to lie down as much as possible to avoid the buildings altogether but as usual it was wet so I wouldn't drop on my belly ;¬)

great silhouette, I esp like the light flare from the suns reflection.

if you could somehow shoot so you only saw the sculpture and a blue cloudy sky, you would have a ribbon

Well seen! The art makes for a striking image. When it's dry, we'll expect you to go belly down to get the shot you had in mind ;o).

This is very good use of the high contrast of the light and dark areas to make the artwork the strong point in this shot.
As suggested by MaryO, only with a twist, I sometimes use my monopod, and put my camera upside down on top of my foot using the self timer, and invert the image later. It's not as accurate, but it is a much easier way to get a very low angle point of view on subjects that don't move.

Great guitars or bases or cellos. I like the bit of light peeking through.

At first, I was going to suggest cropping this radically, but after looking at it for a while, I feel that it benefits from the negative space.

Nice shot, thanks for the effort. I can only imagine if someone saw you, so close to the ground, what they were thinking.

ha! you & I should go out shooting together! Sometimes I think I am nuts, the positions I get into in public no less! :)

I love the silhouetted silhouette against the sky with just the hint of contre jour there on the right...tight composition tho understandbale given the actual constraints of the image in its space...

What? You mean you wouldn't sacrifice your comfort for a better picture for us? Some people ;-p

Here's something I try when feeling similarly challenged by a location: open up the lens to its widest (18mm, it looks like), set the focus manually to infinity (or not, if you have a specific effect you're going for and want just something closer in focus), then stick the camera down near the ground or wherever you think a better vantage point would be and see what you can get without looking through the viewfinder! Take shots with the camera at a few different angles, see if you like anything you got, make adjustments, repeat. *I* find that to be a kind of fun game ;-)
