So yeah - you probably know this is a parody of this amazing shot by nico_blue:

This really annoyed be - you have no idea how difficult it is to position this clown! His legs are cloth - no structure, and his boots are a ceramic type material (read:heavy) as are his hands and his body... But anyway - he was the only clown available to me, and this idea came up. Thought i would enter to see how it does considering the small field :)

Last minute jobby - evening of deadline i came up with the idea and spent the whole night just getting it right (lighting the bugger was a little venture into ingenuity with a flash, some sheets of A4 and a kitchen roll cardboard centre thing).

Oh and i was listening to Andrea Bocelli whilst doing this - which is rather fitting i suppose considering the context :)

Anyway Postwork:
Raw Conversion
Crop (to take out some things which were propping him up (a black pencil for the hand on the right, a black cocktail stick resting on a remote;resting on a pen; resting on a fork; resting on a copy of Deathly Hallows proping up the hand on the left. A black photo paper (only thing i would change as it was shiny) wrapped tube proping up his leg, and the black end of a LYNX deodorant can which he was sitting on.)
Levels
Saturation boost to red and cut of yellows (he has a stain on his elbow)

WOW! Not entirely sure what to make of the 25+ sub 3 inclusive votes! That is one hell of a bell curve right there!

Ah well - at least some people realised what i was getting at. others just voted it low i'm assuming because they saw it as just some weird entry. Would really like to know the through process going behind giving this (or any image) a 1 or 2... and hear the explanation for the 19 3's... wow. Anyway, it was amusing and gratifying to bring a smile to some people's faces with the parody - maybe i should have put "(parody)" in the title to make it a bit more obvious...

Thanks for the comments and response :)

The cloth was actually a cut up white plastic bag - it was the lightest thing i could use to not disrupt the weight balance i had going and it was easily manipulated.

Great lighting, and I like the simplicity of the color scheme. (Not to mention funny, as well.)

Like this shot -- maybe using a little more light would have prevented details like the boots from disappearing into the black backdrop.

Isn't he supposed to be nude to make this pose work? ;)
