He is a close relative and will not mind having this rather unflattering shot posted. I like it as it shows him very naturally. Any advice on portrait shooting is most welcome!

I am surprised this didn't place higher. I thought it was the strongest of the challenge. I don't agree with some of the commenters that a portrait must be planned and set up. Capturing a great face with character in good light is an excellent way to make a portrait. I say well done, and keep shooting portraits. I think you have a knack for it.

nice telephoto capture, well exposed too, but somehow i can not avoid to see a snapish mood in the image. I mean, it does not look planned, but a shot taken while testing/playing with dof of an excellent telephoto lens. Just my opinion.
