I froze a plastic cup full of water with a bamboo stick in the middle, cut it down to wick size and lit it. Wouldn't stay lit! So, I lit a real candle dripped wax onto the "wick" and lit that, snapped a couple shots before it went out and noticed my backdrop was on FIRE!!! LOL! The lit wax dripped off the ice onto the backdrop! Now I have a big hole burned in my only black backdrop. And for all this trouble, I'll probably get a 4.5.

The subject matter is what makes this work--oxymoronic images do tend to be eye-catching. I'm not sure the lighting couldn't be sharper, and the composition seems more haphazard than thought-through. A good attempt though.

Hmmm. I like your thinking. This could have gone into either challenge. I think filling the frame more to show all the details in the ice may have added more "pow" to it.

I really like the idea. I think I might have liked the image a little better if the candle holder was not there.

Interesting combination of fire and ice. A little too literal for my tastes.
