Taken in my parent's backyard. Brought back memories of being a kid. All 10 images allowed were used. 3 for HDR for the background and 7 for the boat. NI was used to give the dreamy quality to the grass. I usually hate the way grass sharpens so I like to go for the soft look.

I think you were robbed, but I also think that you have too many ribbons anyway! :D

So cute. And what an interesting way to capture the movement of current as well. I'm a little undecided about the soft blur but still, the concept is a good idea.

scalvert: totally natural. a floating object following the current.

frisca: but a newspaper's not natural.

scalvert: it is when it's folded into a boat.

ursula: but it's still black and white and read all over, and that's not natural.

muckpond: zebra with a sunburn! natural!

There is amazing detail for everything but the little boat - nice shot otherwise...

Great tones! The paper hat is lost in this to a large degree - I keep looking at the reflection of the tree. This should do well though

This is absolutely gorgeous. I had to look a couple of times to see the boat floating, it just didn't pop out to me.

Beautiful image. I love the softness and the colors. The only thing is that it takes a while for my eye to find the subject. hard to control water flow, but making it so the boat was a little more dramatically part of the photo would have been stronger.

Were you a litterbug? Or did you find the sinking ship?

Ooh, is it bring news of the HRD Vincent? This HD stuff (nearly) always has a touch of the virtual reality about it. I'd venture that here it's just a smidgeon over the top - but that's me. Magnificent curve of the Newsworthy's Odessy. . .

Interesting look. I haven't quite bought into this HDR thing yet, but it works well here.

The SS Newsworthy is one small ship, I didn't even notice it until I read the title and took a second look.

You really have to look at the picture to see the subject.

I really don't like shots like this. Too me it looks processed past the extent of reality.

I really hope that this image is not overlooked by most of the voters on DPC. I think you have done somethign wonderful here. The idea of a newspaper boat floating down a stream is just awesome. I could have never thought of something like that. I love the processing. I like the mood that it presents as almost a magical little stream where adults drema about their childhood.

Top shelf image here that is worht nothign short of a 10. I hope to see it on the front page and hope the other voters don't look past it to put it there.

this gets my high vote because of the great colors in the scene - wish the "boat" stood out more in some way -- one of my favorites this challenge

The it took me longer than it should have to identify that the paper boat was the object of the picture. Next time find a object that leaves no doubt.

The grass and tree look gorgeous. Meets the challenge well, though I think the little boat nearly gets lost in the photo.
