This is my Grandma. Almost 91. Figured it wouldn't be a high scorer because it doesn't scream texture...until you study for a moment. I've never really captured a good picture of her but this one strikes me.

Yes. It strikes me too. It has a haunting beauty and makes 91 look stunning!

In terms of meeting the challenge, this seems to be to be rather like a piece of prose where it is what is hidden between the lines that is important, something only skilled authors can usually achieve succesfully. For me, you have pulled this off: the hints at a lined and textured face are sufficient for me to fill in the gaps. I really admire your lighting technique - a powerful portrait.

I love this picture but for the challenge you shouldve had him rotate away from the camera(or moved the light a little) to let a little more light hit the face and show off more texture.

Not enough texture for my liking... although it is a great picture!

I didn't think this silhouette was really a texture shot judging from the thumbnail, until I clicked on it and saw all the detail on the forehead. More subtle than most of the entries, but a good job.

I get the impression that this person's face would have offered a better texture if viewed from the front. I also have to say that on a first glimpse the light from the far cheek looked like something dribbling out of the nose.
