It took me a long time to think of a good photo for this contest. At the last minute I came across a basket of Pine Cones at my mother's house.

This was a two man effort with my dad holding the light and reflector and me behind the camera.

I used a white piece of paper as the background and harsh side lighting to really bring out the texture.

a little washed out towards the top but still nice.

It is a little bit reddish in my opinion.

Great textures! Strong, warm lighting and it's resulting shadows really show off the shapes. Nice.

Like the warm tones , prefer a tighter crop to emphasize on the pine cone textures more also the shadows could also be a little less harsh - 6

Good use of side lighting to reveal texture, although maybe just a tad too bright. You have a number of sensor dust spots visible in the plain background - under basic rules you are allowed to clone/heal these.

Nice lighting! Is it against the rules to edit out sensor dust?

Great composition and lighting....I'd clean that sensor dust off there though.

I like the composition, but the deep reddish orange color and the sensor dust is distracting.
