I think they're commorants, though I don't know for sure or if I even spelled it remotely correctly.
Hee! Thanks to Bear I know they're not cormorants (and the correct spelling) but I'll be darned if I know what they are. They're all black, have long skinny wings, and sit lower in the water than your average Mallard.
The spelling is "cormorant" and they definitely are NOT cormorants. Their head shape places them more in the duck-or-goose category. Cormorants have longer, hooked-at-the-end beaks, for grabbing fish with. Nice shot though.
The warm tones of this make it feel very inviting to me. Personally, I like the grass on the right of the shot as it lets the viewer have a sense of perspective as to where on the water the birds are located. I also like how all the birds are facing to the right except the last one on the left - like he is looking back to make sure no one has been left behind.
I like this..it's very peaceful and makes me want to go sit on a dock and watch the sun set!
The only thing I MIGHT change it if were me,is cropping it up a little more so you couldn't see the grass/weeds in the very bottom right hand corner...just my thoughts though! It's a great picture
