 Not sure what they are called, but we enjoyed them (only when fresh, though.. they don't age very well).

Super basic yeast recipe:

1 kg flour
3-4 packets of dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 – 2 teaspoons salt
750ml water, lukewarm

Method

Mix yeast with sugar and a little of the water, let it stand for about 15 minutes
Mix and knead all ingredients
Let it rise, knead again
Form into buns or place in bread tins
Brush with water
Let it rise again
Bake at 200 °C (390° F) for 20 – 40 minutes

Looks tasty--my kids would love that! Truth be told, so would I. :) Thanks for the recipe. Once I get my mixer, I'll give it a try.
