I placed a bottle of Ouzo on a mirror, dripped meths over the bottle and set light to it. flames only lasted a few seconds but a quick rush of air brought them back up again. I chose this shot over (many) others even though there was less flame on this. Origionaly this pick was a crop but decided to show the full image as it came out of the camera and just resized it.

Tools...
Minolta A1 hand held
Empty bottle of Ouzo
2 table lights
Mirror placed on coffee table
Meths & matches.

Background was darkened
Tidied the label up a little with clone
A little dodging on the bottle caps
No burning and couldn't get neat image to improve the pic.

Thanks for the comments, I do listen (honestly) and promise to do better. A full .5 better than my first attempt so may even get a 5 for my next challenge :) I think my poor attempt at improving the background helped my downfall - back to basics whilst I learn.

At least I got the title right!

Very cool effect. I'd love to know how this was done.

This doesn't look quite right to me. The edges of the flames are too abrupt. It also looks almost like the bottle and flame were cut out and pasted. What are the artifacts in the lower right corner? Overall, it looks like there has been too much processing...

Man, that stuff is fire! My friend almost jumped over the boat from Italy to Greece after a few shots of that stuff!

These bottles do not seem to be grounded and for some reason that bothers me.

The sharp edges and strong posterization looks like some heavy Photo retouching to me. The focus is soft, the reflection doesn't really add to the image, and the bottle isn't tilted quite enough to look intentional. I do like the concept, though.

The edges of the fire look fake, over contrasted (as does the faint dark orangish background.
