Challenge: Beauty In The Everyday (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5- 5.6G ED DX
Location: St. Louis, MO
Date: Dec 17, 2007
Date Uploaded: Dec 17, 2007

I had taken a photo of the arch in the autumn with the reflecting pool (on my profile), and went to get the same shot with snow on the ground. On the way back to my car this flock flew by and was actually headed south (I'm only assuming for the winter). I snapped a few shots of them and knew this would be a good entry for the beauty in the everyday. I hope others share the same opinion.

i think this is an absolutely gorgeous picture. It's a shame that it didn't clinch a ribbon, not even close...

I thought this was the coolest catch with the geese flying by at that moment. I also love the blue and white tones of the picture. Very nice!

Nice shot and congrats on the top 20. Way to represent St Louis, i thought about heading down there for snow pics but opted for a local state park. Well done!

were they going through the arc? (in advanced editing they could be made to look like they were... :-)

Based the title the birds are the subject – but I feel they are too small as opposed to structure in the background.

It's a good scene that fits "everyday", though I don't see it fitting the "Wabi-Sabi" idea. I do like it, however. Maybe a little more sharpness or contrast on the details of the arch would be good, but that's about all I can criticize for this one.

A beautiful photo to be sure. I think that arch is extraordinary and I would love to see it in person. The birds add a nice element to the photo. This has the look of an infrared photo but it could just be frost or ice on the trees.

The birds are the thing that makes a nice photo into a very good photo.

Crop just a bit more off the bottom so that only tree branches are visible. Otherwise this is nice.
