Photographed during rehersal of "La Pastorela: The Shepherds' Odyssey" at the Playhouse In The Park in Phoenix, AZ. (I designed and am running sound for that show).
Post processing to correct exposure, remove highlights and sharpen. This photo was taken from the back of the theatre (from the sound booth). When I read the challenges this week for Heaven and Hell, I was giddy, since this show had plenty of images of both. Most of the Hell-images were very dark and/or red from the stage lighting, and in the end, I decided to go with this one. Stage lighting makes it tricky to get uniform exposures, but I have to say I'm very happy with this one. I'm sure I'll get dinged for the blowouts on Angel's wings, but I'll live with that.
Actress is the talented and funny Amanda Schaar, who steals the show every single night. It's the second year in a row I've designed sound for this show (and the second year I got to work with many of the returning actors and actresses, including Amanda), and I love every single performance.
Not sure how this will hold up with some of the more creative studio submissions I'm sure it will be up against, but I hope this shot might *finally* break me into the top 50% for once...
Shot on monopod, 70-200mm 2.8 lens at 170mm, normal VR.
Great shot, i can appreciate the texture of those wings and i like the expression of the girl.
The only "bad" thing i can say is the busy (even when it is dark) background, but hey, is basic editing, right? :)
