This is an outstanding shot.
However, the red bandana comes across as little more than an unnecssary distraction - I recall you doing the same thing with a shot of a boy eating a Mango. Didn't work then and it doesn't work now. In both cases the power of an otherwise magnificent shot was significantly diminished by your processing decision.
This shot is strong enough to stand alone as a standard duo-tone. I'm sure you know that....I think you should have more faith in the DPC voter - I don't think you needed to resort to a gimmick to get a good score on this one.
Happy new year!

What a beautiful portrait... lovely job of toning, and love the framing. Not sure about leaving the bandanna in color. |

my instincts would lead me to believe for a number of reasons that this is Joey Lawrence's photo, 1 the title, he is well known for S P A C I N G out his titles. 2 the subject of the photo, he did just return from a few countries where exotic and photographic characters are a dime a dozen. and 3 the editing of the photo resembles but is not convincing enough for me to believe this is his photo. reasons being behind that statement, the selective desaturation of the face and hands isn't something ive seen in his past work. another is again the subject, i find it hard to believe that this particular photo would be the best photo he took that whole month. granted its a great photo. and last i spoke with him a few weeks ago and he stated he doesn't enter anymore.
so
i am going to go out on a limb and say this is NOT joey's entry. I love the photo, its moving and defiantly one to keep in the portfolio.

I don't think that this needed the red - I keep trying to really look at his face and my eye is continually distracted by the headband. Other than that, a really nice portrait. |

I really like the texture of his hair, I'm split on whether I like the selective desat or not... |

Very nice details in the hair and face. The selected saturation works well. |

Great character. Could the eyes have been made a bit lighter? How would it have been if we saw more of the hand? |
