jack in the beanstalk ... trying to show the five magic beans clutched in his hands. They are really jelly bellys, and they are magic!

Quick shot, surefire bomb. I really have no idea why I am entering this. The selective desat is rough, because the edges were a little blurry with this handheld macro shot. This was one of my test shots, and I'm just too lazy to reshoot with a tripod because I don't think the concept will score that well, even if I spent more time working out the technicals. So I decided to go with and accentuate the rough edges to make the beans look more magical, and see how it does.

Levels to darken everything up, then selective desat of the hand. Watercolor filter and Glowing edges filter to give the beans a magic glow. Resize, a little usm, border, s4w.

4.8, maybe lower.

This has potential, even with the over-the-top postprocessing, but the arrangement of the beans isn't as interesting as it could be. I think you could do more with this concept.

hmmmmmm..

I actually like this. And I have no clue why! :) Something about the colors and the shadow tones, I guess. Would be neat to see it without the filter effect, perhaps. But then again maybe that's part of what I like about it. :D Cool image!

Im not really keen on the processing. Makes it look too much like a painting. If you take that away I would have loved this. The natural texture of the skin and the beans. The selective desat works well.

A lovely use of selective desat and very well done.

Interesting use of pp on this one. The outlining is also very interesting and draws lots of attention to the shot. I like it!

Way too edited! Take it easy with the filters :)

Way too oversaturated colors on a selective saturated photo. To the point where you see the color changes and a line around the beans. Nice idea, though.

good shot but too much processing IMHO

Nice colors, and I like the selective desat. Only nitpick is that there seems to be some kind of haloing (maybe from over-sharpening?) around the edges of the beans.

The desaturation could have been a bit smoother. There is a sharp edge that doesn't make it smooth and natural. Otherwise, a good image.

I like the look of the beans, just not so sure about the post processing. Does meet the challenge non the less =]

I think this would have been more effective with less editing, specifically the edges of the beans are distracting.

Good idea but I am really not digging the editing on this image. A bit too funky for my tastes.

Interesting take on the challenge, i don't think whatever filter you added to this really helps the image though
