These cuties may be Harloquin (SP) Ducks. They were swimming on melting ice last winter in Twisp River.


They are Hooded Mergansers! THANKS, these are the coolest ducks I've ever seen. They swim up river and like to sit on the rocks to sleep and rest, before diving yet again into the frigid waters. I appreciate knowing what kind of ducks they are!

These are Hooded Mergansers male and female they are of the diver family
which eat mostly fish or other aquatic animals. This is a good capture colors are good and gold eye of the male stands out.
