surprised this needed to be validated, I like the subtle reflection in the glass.

I think this would have worked better without the red being singled out - 6

I do like this. Real crowd, and wonderfully crowded and clear picture, selective red works ok. (We know she's not a real bag lady, but works well with the title).

This shows pretty much how I feel about holiday shopping! I've been looking at this shot for several minutes, now, and I think that, while I like the concept, it's a little too busy for me. The only reason that the eye is drawn to the main subject is the selective desat, and I'm not sure that's enough.

Very nice use of desaturation here! I love the touches of red...I see the red at the bottom...nice touch! Wonderful composition, amazing detail and tones. Plus, this mall looks exactly like Hulen Mall in Ft Worth, Texas. My old hometown, and the mall I used to live by for 30 years and shopped at for 15 years! I'm giving you a 10 for all the above reasons, plus I love the bag lady and your title!!

good idea - not sure the desat really works here - but good idea all the same.

:) Don'tcha just FEEL the aching in her tired little feet looking at this? She looks quite content in her aloneness, doesn't she?

I like it!

You had a good idea with this one. I would have only colorized the bag and lady together and BW the rest. This way your eye would not move around the photo so much. Thereby concentrating your focus on the subject more.

I like it, but is it basic editing? I hope so...

Certainly fits the description of the challenge. Nice idea to desat all but the red channel. That should confuse a few with it being basic editing. :)

This is basic editing challenge. This has selective desaturation.

Nice use of partial desat. The scene needs more contrast to be really effective.

I like the selective desat here.

The composition could be better. It seems she is looking out of the frame. And the desaturation except red looks a little weird in this composition.
