Nice composition and DOF. I wish there was a little more light on her face, but what can ya do in basic?

Yea, shake em. Nice job on the B&W Mary. Good contrast.

Background ladies face is distractingly washed out

I like the focus in this photo and it really meets the challenge well - 8

nice use of shallow DoF to isolate the girl. Although the exposure is correct for her, the girls in the background is really blown highlights and with the main subjects head turned right towards her, it really distracts me.

quite a nice portrait, but it's hard to really see the crowd, and very odd has happened to the face of the girl behind her which is a little distracting. Quite a nice capture of the main girl though and I like the B&W conversion.

Very nice, open up the background a little would have been better for me

That's a nice shot. I like the composition.
The white looks overexposed, though and the "alone in a crowd" feeling does not seem to be conveyed very convincingly
11/29/2007 08:26:26 PM
I have to work too much to see her as alone with her teammate right there behind her. There is a crowd, the spectators, but it would have been better if you could have found an angle to have just gotten her.

Technically, I like this shot. The OOF background gives a great impression of a crowd, but I just don't get the feeling from her expression of being alone.
11/28/2007 11:24:22 PM
It is a shame this is basic editing so you could not darken the faceless girl behind her. Great shot though.
11/28/2007 10:00:55 PM
theme?
11/28/2007 08:35:02 PM
the white face of the background cheerleader and the way the foreground cheerleader leads the eye into it is odd and intriguing
11/28/2007 07:18:20 PM
wider angle and perspective may have helped show the separation you saw between her and the crowd. Otherwise, it's still a nice shot.
11/28/2007 03:40:30 PM
I don't get any sense of her being "alone", neither do I see much of a crowd.
11/28/2007 12:53:18 PM
very clear.

Nice portrait. Highlight at the BG is clipped though.

Some blown highlights... but I guess they also make you focus.
Nice shot.

Perfect shutter speed to keep her hair sharp and the pom-poms blurry, but this doesn't communicate the challenge concept very well to me.
