This was disqualified from the "Halloween 2007" challenge because of a lighting issue:

From all the comments, I will explain this process.

First, I dressed up my fiance in all his gore, teddy bear furr taped under his ripped shirt, black eye make-up and gross nails and then told him not to touch anything as we drove around. After failing to find any neat backdrops since my camera lacks a flash and I was using what I found... I had him kneel in front of my car headlights while in a barren parking lot. I had him pose and drool and then got a nice crisp shot.

Editing:
I put a few layers on top of the image to add the old feel and bumped up the contrast and hues to a bit yellow and dark. I then morphed his ears and hands a bit to add that stretch, as well as to his nose. I then scribbled over the layers and erased where I thought it looked good.

Add Frame and BOOM - you have my favorite Jake Halloween picture yet!

Unless I am very much mistaken, this image was not disqualified because of " a lighting issue", but because you "morphed" parts of his body.

You were creating things that weren't there before, which is a no-no. I bet everyone (as per challenge comments) thought you had achieved this look via props and make-up rather than post-processing.
