cool... definitely a school of hard knocks. diametrically opposed to book smarts. and i always get a kick out of how overwhelmed your photo people are by their environs.

nice capture of the surfer riding the wave - clearly it meets the challenge. I am just not sure about the composition - it seems too centered and I would like to see him a bit closer cropped

your main subject should not be centered in a Photograph. ( Google : rule of Thirds . Taking off some of the left and lower portions would move the surfer out of the center and help this Photograph.

Interesting composition, with your subject dead center. I'd love to see him closer up, maybe a little more saturation in the color of the water and sky.

Is there a highway that was flooded at the time of this shot?? I fail to see what surfing has to do with street smarts.
