This was shot for a Canon photo competition. Given some blue cellophane, take a photo.
I cut the cellophane into long strips and stuck them onto a fan, and turned it on high. My original idea was to have my daughter playing in the midst of a swirling mass of ribbons, but she preferred to stand and watch the end of them as they licked at her face.
Lighting is from my home-made softbox. The rich blues and cool tones come from using tungsten white balance setting with the flash photo, and the editing was done to complement this, applying a purple tint to the vignetting.
The shot would be improved if we could see her eyes, but she is squinting against the wind and streamers licking at her face. I love this shot, but I'm probably biased. :) I hope others like it too.
Editing is levels/colour balance, D&B, cloning out powerpoint and join in wall, NR, selective sharpening, crop, resize, border. |
