I was across in Kansas this weekend and Charlene took me to Overland Park Arboreteum. It was beautiful and warm and we had a fantastic time laughing till our sides ached and wandering around and taking shots

Charlene spotted this little chappy basking and I managed to get a shot of him (I did try and get closer but a lumbering 6ft 3 Englishman was not to his taste and he skidaddled)

I love seeing wildlife in its natural habitat especially when it is not something that I would see in the UK.

I guess the pond slime over his shell is not great but I do love the fact that you can still see patches of its beauty beneath that.

Mind you, look at the talons on it!!!! Vicious

Interesting shot, I like the shadow, the composition and clarity. I'm glad you got your shot before he/she took off. I once stalked a turtle for three days before getting her picture. Nice work! I'm having a hard time at this point with sour. Everyones work is so unique. Maybe burn the dry wood so the contrast isn't so great between the dry and wet. lol - I do really like it as is.

I can't get over the detail you captured here. For sour, that's a hard one for me since I saw the scene transpire with great amusement. So I'll go with maybe having a different background that wasn't as busy (the dry board vs wet portion, and the moss).

I have to get myself a lizard or turtle! They would make much better subjects than my dog LOL
Would love to see this little guy's face.

I really like how you captured the details in the turtles feet and the real life beauty of him (the slime really works for me here). The colors nice and rich as well.

Sour - i would love to see its face and know what he is looking at.
