This is the keeper-edit of my single-light challenge entry.
My entry had a serious flaw. I took about 5 shots, and the one I submitted had light spilling in from a side door. whoops.
And here are the pretentious comments to match the pretentious entry:
I was thinking about the home writing desk of a newly matriculated Oxford boy. On the left is an old trig text. He has a small desk (which he has outgrown), so he maximizes surface area by propping a book in an open drawer. In front of him, though, is a book opened to a (scientific) diagram of female genitalia (boys will be boys). (There is a blank page on the right... presumably for taking notes.) There is also rolled parchment, wax and stamp, a few pound and a few shilling coin, skeleton keys, a couple of nice burl pipes (one resting in a carved myrtle-wood ash bowl), pocket watch, service bell, a cup of tea, an emptied port glass, a couple of skulls, some reasonable texts, and his top hat resting on an African carving. It is indeed cluttered; I've never known a desk else wise.
