This pristine lagoon, home to many birds: brown pelicans, cormorants, migrating birds of many types, was birdless today, with a slimy mixture of green oil all through the water. Researchers were already out assessing the damage. Yep, accidents happen.

Good picture for the ending of your story. It just upsets me so much to ponder the fate of the birds and other wildlife in this area. And such a pretty place too.
