 A little anti-smoking message...

Didn't quite turn out like I'd expected...

Lit with my homemade softbox to camera left.

I don't smoke, but I keep a packet around for photos.

I wanted the cigarette itself in focus, but all the shots with it in focus really lost my eyes, so in the end I decided to go with this.

Processing was manic... there is too much done here...

First a little desat was done in RAW.
Then I ran photomatix over it to give my skin a metallic feel.

Then I dropped a few textures over my hand and face. Masking the parts I didn't want.

Then I merged, duplicated the merged layer and set it to overlay mode, masking my hair which lost too much detail.

Last I borrowed OrdinaryAngel's mud texture and plonked that on my face.

There were a few other touch-ups along the way, most of which I can't remember.

I love the face on this one, and the message. For me, the face seems like a background to the hand with cig - they don't seem to match or go together. I think it's the tones of the hand for me.

I like how the cracks are stronger on the face than the hands. GREAT anti-smoking campaign poster. Really well done.
