during a business trip to vegas, i snuck out of the trade show and drove like mad to get to red rocks. because it took 40 mins to get there i only had 15 minutes to snap off a couple shots. i wasn't even thinking of this challenge but when i scanned the awesome shots that ended up on the camera, i found this nugget buried in a nicer one. here's the original:

Well, I am sure you will see some of the Does not meet comments, but thats not what I am here to do. The shot is a good one. The light being where it is doesn't help with the near side details that could have made the shot even better. Still nice shot and good luck with the does not meet comments.

A unique twist, but I kind of expected to see popcorn in a popcorn challenge...

I feel a little lost with this subject. Should the rock look like popcorn, or the stuff on the rock look like popcorn? Sorry, but I don't get this one.

I'm not sure why you chose the b&w conversion here. I would have loved to see the red rocks. This doesn't really remind me of popcorn, I think it would have met the challenge if it did, but it doesn't to me, sorry.

Yes, this picture '...communicates the subject of "Popcorn"' But I don't like the lighting. Too large a part of the rock is in the shadow. Moreover, I am not too fond of the composition.(4)

I guess it does look vauguely like a popcorn kernel, but it's a stretch.
