This is water vapor, not smoke.

When the city cuts down trees and bushes they grind up the wood and put out the wood chips in one of the parks for people to take for their gardens. On chilly days the moist warm air rising from the wood meets the cold air, with this result.

This is cool. Great catch! I would never have guessed that former trees could steam like that lol. Love the composition with the wood pile in the foreground and their former selves in the background ;)

Can't be objective here. We have a small converted to electric woodchipper worth its weight in gold; but we also have a stand of trees of nearly the same configuration (including background trees) and fall colour that I almost entertained the thought you had stolen one of my photos, though I've never posted any. Alas our piles rarely steam like the professionals'.

It's just wonderful with all the light and color.

Wow, I'd have thought it was smoke! I've never seen steam rising from a pile of leaves. Well photographed.

It's nice that you put the trees in the background in this shot to give some perspective. One of my friends runs a compost business, and the windrows are about 140 deg F in the middle. It seems like a great energy source that no one has tapped yet. They compost about 20 tractor trailer loads per day.
