Wasn't going to enter this as I was feeling decidedly uninspired; then looked through the last challenge and broadened my thoughts a little and realized I have a Winn Dixie clone! So, why not? Of course when I want Gracie to put her ears up she keeps rosing them like a Wolfhound should, but the original dog in the book was a Wolfhound so I guess I'll settle for cropping out the mostly-offending ears ;-) For once I am glad I haven't groomed her recently! And at least I got her looking happy, which suits the character better. Lighting is flat (cloudy day) so I may try again later if the sun comes out. Not much of a scene, I guess, but somehow I didn't envision the local grocery story letting her run amok in the produce aisles for the sake of a shot.

PP - converted from RAW, rotated, cropped, levels, dodged eyes, resized, sharpened, cloned out a few sharpening hotspots.

I went to school with Kate Dicamillo the author of Because of Winn-Dixie. She is a tiny little curly headed gal that was very studios in school. She is mega famous now for her writings.
It really is a cute story. The movie is darling too. And I do believe that is the same breed of dog as in the movie. Good job.

I don't know anything about Winn Dixie, but 'The Shaggy Dog' rings a bell. I would have preferred a bit more depth to this image. it feels a bit flat, and the blurred area around the nose is distracting.

the focus on the eyes is good but I would have used greater DOF so the nose would be in focus as well.
