So seriously I was going to take pictures of the water and surroundings, but I get all distracted by these birds. I just love "shooting" them.

Love it... I too always get distracted by the birds! Go out to shoot one thing and end up with birds...

Amazing image, I just love the bubbles and the pattern that they create. The background is just perfect to make the bird pop.

Nice. It's difficult to judge exposure with white birds like this, and you have this one just about right. Like the reflection.

And you do it wo well. I really like this. The bird only takes up about 20% of the picture so that is OK ;-)

Nicely done.

Beautiful bird! Like how you were able to bring out that the beak and legs have the same combination of black and yellow/orange. Also, nice smooth water background.

Regarding the issue of what is a bird doing in a water picture, my attitude is that the challenge has water as a theme -- thus water itself or things in a watery environment are all fair game. My 1st entry (wood duck) is similar to yours in this regard.

This one really hums. Dark lines/shadows in water echo bird's bill. (Intrigued by those spherical things in the water).

It's a kind of water bird, so there shouldn't be any problem and (as said by cogerox) what is water without birds? Reflection of the toes is wonderful.

But I agree with you, this is more a photo of a bird than of water.

What's water without birds? Nothing. Looks like you had a great reflection there, too. Same thing happens to me, but they won't let me get close enough for the shot.
