I had time tonight for a setup shot based on a gourd used for another project. this is a water shot with a bunch of glycerin added to keep the thing steady so I can shoot it. It's always breathtaking to see what reflections and refractions come out in these closeups.

I think the water drop looks a bit like a tear shaped diamond. I particularly like the reflections in the water drop.

The drop is just perfect (the gourd is a bit too bright for me but I just love how the curves of the gourd are reflected in the drop). I might have cropped a bit from the right, to get less of the gourd in the photo. Where can I buy glycerine? I don't recall seeing it in the stores.

You did an excellent job with your macro. The water drop is very crisp and the reflection clear.

Hope I can once make such a photo. Thanks for explaining how you did this. I like the color and the drop is just wonderful. Not sure about the yellow reflections at the sides of the drop.

For a while I thought the gourd was two blurry fingers.
The one drop look like a fingernail. My eyes must be blurry today.
Great reflection in the bubble-like drop.

Nice macro, Alice. Love the contrast between the water and the black background. Your lighting and dof are perfect, and the detail in the water drop is amazing. I want to learn more about doing good macro.

Cool! Thanks for explaining what you did. I have always wondered how people get the water to stay in nice drops.

I love the colors and the black backdrop really makes the water drop pop.

Beautiful orange color, and nice juxtaposition of well-focused water drop with softly focused gourd. Very Halloween-like. (Was this your "other project"?) Might be worth cropping out a little bit of the left.
