Very cool idea, and great use of DOF to isolate the flower. Great shot!

nice use of dof = really pops out agains the b&w treatment of hand and dirt. To make this an even better shot-- the dirt in the fingernails distracts my eye for some reason (others will like it) maybe it's their length that doesn't go with digging? I'd like to see more of the hand - cutting it off mid-palm distrupts the flow. Overall well done.

Fantastic shot! I love the contrast and the dirt under her nails. Excellent!

I like how the flower stands out from everythig else because of its bright color compared to the dark, and dull bakcground. This is a great idea of showing the element earth, good job.

Well it would have been genesis if you hadn't dug the poor thing up!! It's nemesis now.

Nice shot though, but it looks a little over-treated for my taste and I'm not convinced by the composition.

Nice DOF, great focus on the flower... just a nice shot all around!

Nice idea, and pretty flower. Purists will say the element earth should have been more sharply focused.

greater Dof and part of the wrist would help here...

I like it, but the dirt under the fingernails sorta blows it for me. I know it's more realistic this way, but if they were clean I would like it better. Still a great pic though!

This photo is very beautiful and artistic. Very nice contrast between color and black and white,. your depth of field works well too. However, the line between the flower and the earth seems a little too unrealistic. Maybe try some slight bluring around the edges of the flower to make the photo just another notch better! Good Job overall though! -8

I like the shot, but in my opinion it would be better without the hand...7

While I like the presentation, and the clarity of the flower, and the rich soil, I am bothered by the dirt under the fingger nails. I know. Iknow. . . if you are a gardner it is a fact of life. . . but it is distractive in the photo!

Excellent use of DOF, I must say. And also I like the selective saturation. The photo (other than the flower) does seem a bit grainy but this may have been what you were going for. Either way, it's well done and meets the challenge very nicely.

Very intimate feel to this image. I love the delicate flower. Don't forget to clean your fingernails! 10

Good use of the Earth theme, would have done very well in the shallow DOF challenge also.

I like the idea and the focus on the flower is great but the hand IMHO detracts from the overall image. It's paleness and the earth under the fingernails are distracting. Remove the hand and I would have scored another point higher. Really like the way the flower screams out for attention though - well done.

I like the technique of the blurred background to make that flower pop, but I think It may look at bit *too* sharp! :) almost seems to float in front of the image. nice concept, though - I like.
