 I had this idea that ice is the beginning of the end of fall because it has been so cold here lately. Unfortunately it hasn't frozen here yet, so I had to create this composition from scratch. I cut a whole in the center of a cardboard box and lined it with aluminum foil for the rock "river" bed. I then placed water in a glass pan, mixed in some blue watercolor paint, put my leaf in and stuck the whole thing in the freezer. While it was freezing I setup the lights. My sigma flash was placed under the "river bed" pointing through the whole I cut (because I wanted some back lighting to define the leaf). I used my two strobes bounced into umbrellas with some white shirts also in front of the strobe for diffusion. I was having a terrible time controlling glare on the ice which is why I lined the box with aluminum foil and diffused the other lights so much.

Oh and the ice "shards" are from my deep freeze which needs defrosting something fierce!
