When viewing this, I am looking for the flower and not seeing one so its a bit strange. There is no obvious central subject to focus on which confuses the DOF when viewing

not a real good composition to highlight your idea. the new shoots get lost in the vast amount of green. the lighting is too harsh as well.

Subject is appropriate. Lighting is a bit harsh and it looks like what is in front of the in-focus leaf is actually a shoot, so I'm not sure the DOF and focus were quite right if you were trying to make me see shoots.

Good idea, the greens are nice, but unfortunately you've missed the new shoot in the focus. The lighting is a bit distracting too.
