 I wanted to take a picture on the theme of approaching death, fortunately I didn't have any close friends or relatives in that state. Inspired by the lyrics of a David Gray song I looked for something that would show the damage we do to the Earth, ultimately destroying it and ourselves in the process.

Taken on a very wet, gloomy and foggy day in an area of recent logging in Scotland. Shot in RAW - very little needed doing apart from a bit of curve tweaking, convert to B&W with a slight blue tint and adding noise for a bit of grit. The vignette occured naturally with having the lens wide open.

Was this a clear cutting or the remains of a fire? The lone maks a great statment and the mist in the background adds an erie tone.
