Challenge: The Beginning of the End (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon PowerShot S2 IS
Location: studio
Date: Oct 24, 2007
Galleries: Humorous, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Oct 25, 2007

While some in DPC considered this photo entry a waste of time, I present to you the viewer a different take on "beginning of the end", a beginning which is at first imperceptible, mostly missed until one looks with a closer attentiveness and begins to see the beginning (the white line beginning 1/3rd of the way into the middle of "delineation"), a beginning which then continues across the frame and on beyond our horizon. Okay, some DPC voters are NOT into symbolic photography, preferring every entry to be realistic, representation, non-artistic, certainly non-philosophical.

While I totally agree that "delineation" is boring as a stand alone "photo" (and it IS a photo of a line on a page), it offers viewers another way of looking at a very common human experience, that of completely overlooking the "beginning of the end" because we are too quick to judge what we think is not there.

And yes, I was "shooting for Brown". I know I'm not the only member of DPC that occasionally has a quirky sense of humor by boosting your photo one place higher in a challenge simply by entering a photo which we hope will place last.
Thanks to Raish for his "Brown Ribbon" icon:

They don't actually hand out brown ribbons. So it may remain conceptual, in keeping with your entry. I made my own and have it on my profile page and in the portfolio. Feel free to display it if you wish. You got some nice comments, anyway...

I think it was out of focus, and the dodging and burning on the left hand side probably let you down, but overall, fantastic...a great finish :-)

My wife thinks that you think too much, and she's distraught at not being able to keep up. I just think this is wierd. :) Got my attention though. In a way, this is very creative. But I think you are heading for the brown ribbon.

I dont know whether this is a common problem or not but this image is not appearing on my monitor either as a thumbnail or as a full sized image

It may be worth letting the SC know...Bizarrely I cant leave a comment without leaving a score so I will give you a 5 but promise to come back and revisit it if it appears

Oyyyyy!!!!! Trying to guess here .... a very faint line in the middle of the image, very faint, and not all the way through, delineation .... that would be a description or an outline or something like that, maybe a border, like the border between life and death (yeah, sure, now I'm getting weird). I'm trying to think how this fits in with the challenge. A line, I don't know. I'm lost.

There may be something wrong with your entry. All I can get is a blank box.
