Today we took the kids to Chicago. Taylor wanted to ride the train for a long time so we took the train. We had a good time but it was really cold. We knew temperature would be cool but the wind was really strong. Oh well, next time we'll take hats! We saw the Skydeck from Sears Tower (103 floors up) and got plenty of pictures, but the windows were really dirty and most didn't look so hot.

This is "The Bean" in Millenium Park. I'd seen pictures of it before and didn't expect much, but it's really cool. No matter where you look it's like a giant funhouse mirror with seemingly infinite possibilities. It's a huge hit with photographers and I saw a lot of people taking self portraits because of the reflections. Speaking of reflections, if you look in the bean towards lefts you'll see a couple red jackets, that's me and wickee_one with Cartesia in between. Miss Taterbug can be seen just to the left of us.

3 images HDR/Tonemap, mostly basic adjustments afterwards.

And a bonus B&W because I feel doing some B&W:

What a perfect day for this shot! The blue bean reflection blends so perfectly into the sky, and those few puffy white clouds over the city are to die for! I've never seen or even heard of "The Bean" -- what a cool sculpture. You captured wonderful lighting conditions as well! Now I want to go there :-)

I see you guys! How COOL is THAT!!!!! I've seen pictures of this bean before too, and they all look interesting and different. I like this "whole bean" look. I hope I get to see and photograph it some day.

I've seem this before, and maybe even on this site, but it is always amazing, and this is an incredible photo. Clearly this sculpture was designed with the photographer in mind, but you've gotten all of it - the sky, the tiled foreground, the tourists and the cityscape in the reflection. I love the incredible sky color in the reflection.

Cool! I love pics of the bean. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend were in Chicago last week and after they got back I asked if they had seen the bean and they didn't know what I was talking about. They shopped the entire weekend.....ugh!

This would be a fun place to photograph, especially with kids along. Love the distorted reflection of all the buildings.

Wow...the detail and vibrant color of the sky are fabulous, and the reflections are so pretty and curvy. There's so much to look at in this interesting image! You did a nice job photographing and editing. Cool to see you and your family in the reflection of this wonderful piece of sculpture!!

Great reflections as well as a great subject. How do they keep it so shiny?
